“The Onion Rats and the hard hitting, pandemic soaked, progressive alt rock spiral of "Choke" spits, wails, croons and vomits hard truths while guitars crunch and bend away. ” - American Pancake
“In [Choke's] darkly psychedelic nightmare harmonies there is that persistent awareness that the world as it is is propped up by a contingent reality that is dependent on an austerity consensus we could snap out of and topple late capitalism if we wanted to, if there was the will to do so.” - Queen City Sounds and Art
The Onion Rats were formed in the wake of the pandemic, featuring Julie Ulie and Conor Andrews bringing the songs of Barry Seroff to life. The songs range from political to personal, often from a storytelling mode about the challenges of life in modern times.
